TQWL 5 Confirmation Chances
If your PNR shows TQWL/5, your ticket is on position 5 in the Tatkal Quota waiting list. TQWL stands for Tatkal Quota Waiting List and is allocated when the Tatkal quota fills up.
What Are the Chances?
TQWL/5 has very high confirmation chances (78-85%). This is because confirms in most cases, especially in Sleeper class.
| Class | Approx. Confirmation Chance |
|---|---|
| Sleeper (SL) | 85% |
| 3rd AC (3A) | 78% |
| 2nd AC (2A) | 72% |
Why TQWL Is Different From GNWL
Tatkal quota is a small pool (roughly 10-15% of total seats). So even TQWL/5 may face tough odds on popular routes. However, Tatkal cancellations do happen, and each cancellation moves the waitlist up.
Key Factors
- Route popularity: On busy routes like Delhi-Mumbai or Delhi-Kolkata, TQWL moves more slowly.
- Class: Sleeper class has more Tatkal seats so confirms more easily than AC classes.
- Days before travel: TQWL stops moving after chart preparation. After chart, TQWL tickets that are not confirmed are cancelled and refunded automatically.
What Happens After Chart Preparation?
If TQWL/5 is not confirmed by chart time, your ticket is automatically cancelled and a refund is processed. You cannot board the train on a TQWL ticket after chart preparation unless it shows CNF status.
