Best Trains from Kolkata (Howrah) to New Delhi

The Howrah–New Delhi route is one of the busiest and most important rail corridors in India. Multiple trains run daily, offering choices across premium and budget classes.

Howrah Rajdhani Express (12301/12302)

The flagship train on this route. Runs daily, departs Howrah around 4:45 PM, arrives New Delhi around 10:05 AM next day (~17 hours). 3AC, 2AC and 1AC classes. All fares include meals. Book well in advance — this train fills up fast.

Duronto Express (12273/12274)

A non-stop (or limited stop) train covering the route in about 17.5 hours. Has 3AC, 2AC and 1AC. Departs Sealdah station. Fares similar to Rajdhani, meals included. Good alternative when Rajdhani is full.

Poorva Express (12303/12304)

A popular overnight express via Allahabad. Has Sleeper, 3AC and 2AC. Takes about 24 hours. Lower fares than Rajdhani. Best choice for budget travellers who need Sleeper class.

Kalka Mail (12311/12312)

One of the oldest and most famous trains on this route. Runs via Patna and Varanasi. Sleeper and AC classes. Takes 26–28 hours, more halts. Very low fares in Sleeper class.

Sealdah Rajdhani (12381/12382)

Second daily Rajdhani from Sealdah station (on the other side of Kolkata). Same class options as Howrah Rajdhani but departs from Sealdah — useful for passengers on the east side of the city.
