  1. Log in 10 minutes early: Be logged into IRCTC before 9:50 AM (for AC) or 10:50 AM (for SL). IRCTC can be slow around the Tatkal window.
  2. Search and pre-fill: Search for your train and class, start filling passenger details before the Tatkal window opens. Some steps remain locked until opening time but you can have the form ready.
  3. Use a saved passenger list: IRCTC lets you save up to 10 passengers (My Profile → Passenger List). Using saved passengers eliminates manual data entry.
  4. Prepare payment: Have your UPI app open and ready. Or use IRCTC iWallet (preloaded wallet) for the fastest payment — no OTP required for wallet payments up to a certain limit.
