What Is Divyaang Quota in Indian Railways?
The Divyaang quota (DQ) is a special reservation category for passengers with disabilities. Indian Railways provides a 75% fare concession and reserved seats in all train classes for eligible Divyaang (formerly called "Handicapped" โ now referred to as Divyaang as per Government of India guidelines).

Who Is Eligible?
- Blind and low vision passengers (visual impairment 40%+)
- Orthopedic handicap (locomotor disability 40%+)
- Leprosy cured passengers
- Hearing impaired (deaf and hard of hearing)
- Intellectual disability / mental retardation (40%+)
- Other recognized disability categories under Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act
How to Book Divyaang Quota Ticket
- Get disability certificate โ from a government hospital / recognized medical board showing disability type and percentage
- Register at Railways โ visit your nearest Railway booking office (PRS counter) with the certificate. They issue a reference ID or stamp the certificate for concession use
- Book at counter โ present your certificate/ID at PRS counter to book Divyaang quota tickets. The counter can book for all trains
- Online booking โ IRCTC allows some categories to book online after providing disability details during profile setup. Check irctc.co.in under "Concession" for current online availability
Reserved Compartment for Divyaang
Most express trains have a specially equipped Divyaang coach (usually near the front of the train) with wider berths, wheelchair space, and accessible facilities. Ask the station help desk or TTE for the Divyaang coach position when boarding.
