Can RAC Passenger Travel?

Yes. RAC means Reservation Against Cancellation. You are allowed to board the train and travel, but you may share a side lower berth with another RAC passenger.

How RAC Seat Sharing Works

Two RAC passengers are usually allotted one side-lower berth. Both passengers get a sitting place. If a confirmed passenger cancels or does not board, the TTE may upgrade one RAC passenger to a full berth.

Does RAC Become Confirmed?

RAC often confirms before or after chart preparation. Low RAC numbers like RAC 1-10 have a good chance of getting a full berth.
