Why 3AC Waitlist Is Harder to Confirm
3AC (Three-tier Air Conditioned) class has significantly fewer berths than Sleeper class, and AC passengers cancel less often โ partly because the cancellation charges are higher in AC classes. This makes 3AC waitlist harder to confirm than the same WL number in Sleeper.
On a typical express train, Sleeper might have 800+ berths while 3AC has 250โ350. That three-fold difference directly affects how fast the waitlist moves.
3AC WL Confirmation Chances by Number
- WL 1โ5: Good chance on most routes. Will likely reach RAC or CNF before chart.
- WL 6โ15: Moderate chance. Depends on the train and route demand.
- WL 16โ30: Low to moderate. More likely on popular routes with heavy cancellation traffic.
- WL 30โ45: Low chance on most trains. On premium trains like Rajdhani, very low.
- WL 45+: Very unlikely to confirm in 3AC. Book an alternative.
GNWL 45 in Rajdhani 3AC โ Specific Guidance
Rajdhani Express trains are premium and in high demand year-round. The 3AC quota on Rajdhani is limited. GNWL 45 in Rajdhani 3AC has a very low confirmation chance, especially during peak travel seasons (summer vacation, Diwali, Holi).
If your journey is on Rajdhani with GNWL 45 in 3AC, consider:
- Tatkal booking (available 1 day before at 10 AM)
- Same train, different class (Sleeper if available, or 2AC/1AC)
- Alternate Rajdhani on the same corridor (many routes have 2 Rajdhanis daily)
3AC Waitlist on Different Train Types
Confirmation chances vary significantly by train type:
- Rajdhani / Shatabdi: Premium trains, WL even at 10โ15 may not confirm.
- Mail / Express: More coaches, moderate WL numbers (up to 20โ25) often confirm.
- Intercity / Regional: Fewer 3AC coaches, WL moves slowly.
