WL 1 — one step from RAC
WL 1 means you are at the front of the waitlist. One cancellation from a confirmed passenger and your status moves to RAC or CNF. The probability is approximately 90-95%.
WL 2 — two steps from RAC
WL 2 needs two cancellations to become RAC — either two separate cancellations, or the passenger ahead of you cancelling so you become WL 1, then one more cancellation. Probability: approximately 85-92%.
Movement pattern
Most WL 1 tickets move to RAC or CNF within 48 hours of departure. WL 2 follows very closely behind. On busy routes, both often confirm days in advance.
Both positions are safe
WL 1 and WL 2 are the two safest waitlist positions. In most cases, you can book travel plans with reasonable confidence. Set a WhatsApp alert and monitor the outcome.
