How to read today's train delay status
Open the live train running status for your train number. It shows: current delay in minutes, last reported station, and estimated arrival time at your boarding station. A delay of 0-30 minutes is minor — reach the station normally. Delay of 30-90 minutes: arrive 20 minutes before new ETA. Delay 2+ hours: watch for cancellation or consider alternatives.
Common reasons for delays today
Signal failures, platform congestion at major junctions, freight train priority, fog/weather (seasonal), track maintenance blocks, or cascading delays from the train's previous trip. Long-distance trains often pick up or lose time at major junctions like New Delhi, Mumbai CST, Howrah.
Can I claim refund if train is delayed today?
Yes — if your confirmed ticket is for a train that is 3+ hours late, you can file a TDR (Ticket Deposit Receipt) on IRCTC within the journey window. For delays under 3 hours, no refund is available on confirmed tickets. Waitlisted tickets that are auto-cancelled get full refund regardless of delay.
