Does RLWL still move on the day of travel?

RLWL can move on the travel day but rarely — most movement happens in the 72-24 hours before departure. On the day itself, only last-minute cancellations from that specific remote-station quota move RLWL. RLWL 1-2 may still confirm; RLWL 5+ is very unlikely to move on travel day.

RLWL confirmation chances by number — today

RLWL 1: 40-60% (last-minute cancellations still possible). RLWL 2-3: 20-40% chance. RLWL 4-8: Under 15%. RLWL 9+: Under 5% — consider alternate transport. These are day-of figures; the main movement window has closed.

What to do if RLWL has not moved by today

1. Check PNR status now — confirm if it has moved at all. 2. If RLWL is above 5 with chart preparation in under 4 hours, book an alternate option or look for Tatkal on another train. 3. If RLWL 1 or 2, wait for chart preparation — there is still a reasonable chance. 4. Set WhatsApp alert so you know the moment it confirms.

Can RLWL 1 confirm on the day of journey?

Yes, RLWL 1 can confirm right up to chart preparation if there is a last-minute cancellation in that quota. The probability drops from the pre-booking average — on travel day, RLWL 1 has roughly 40-60% chance.

What happens if RLWL doesn't confirm?

If RLWL stays on waitlist after chart preparation, it is auto-cancelled and IRCTC refunds the base fare + 50% of reservation charges. The refund comes within 5-7 business days.

Is there any way to board with RLWL today?

No — a WL ticket (including RLWL) that is not confirmed after chart preparation cannot be used for boarding. The TTE will not permit it. Only CNF or RAC status allows boarding.
