RAC ticket

RAC means Reservation Against Cancellation. RAC passengers are generally allowed to board and may get a shared berth, with a chance of upgrade if cancellations happen.

WL ticket

WL means Wait List. A waitlisted ticket is not confirmed yet. Fully waitlisted e-tickets after chart preparation usually need extra caution and official verification.

Passenger-wise status matters
