Trains in Sikkim — Complete Route Guide 2026

Sikkim currently has no operational railway line — all rail travel ends at New Jalpaiguri (NJP) in West Bengal, about 120 km from Gangtok. A railway project to Rangpo (Sikkim border town, 28 km from NJP) is under construction. Once complete, Rangpo will become Sikkim's first railway station. Until then, travellers use the NJP–Gangtok highway by bus or taxi.
